#Abstract
The management of human mobility, cultural diversity and intercultural communication poses challenges to the States, to the various national and international organizations, to migrants and minorities, to society in general and to professionals working in various sectors of activity. It requires a new methodological, epistemological and ethical repositioning in terms of research, training and 226 intervention in the field of intercultural relations, making it important to know contexts, identify conflicts and develop intercultural skills in all those living in a multicultural society, namely in Europe. The intercultural meeting, the relationships between the Self and the Other, are influenced by social representations, by stereotypes, prejudices, and cultural, ideological and political projections. These elements are important either in the acceptance/integration or in the discrimination/exclusion of the different, of the foreigner; or for the elimination or valorisation of the identity of the Other and otherness; both in health and well-being, or in suffering and disease; or even in conflict and violence in intercultural relations between majorities and minorities. The intercultural meeting is part of a context of confrontation with otherness and it is a source of enrichment, development and creativity, but it is also the source of ambivalence, crises, tensions and conflicts. It is important to identify, understand and reduce intercultural conflicts, develop attitudes, behaviours and skills, as well as to implement adequate public policies, in order to manage cultural diversity and the complexity of interpersonal, intergroup and intercultural relations and prevent conflicts arising from there.
