AbstractImages are a teaching resource of great importance to the teaching of Geography. To read an image is the task of the Geography teacher. This implies that, during the teaching-learning process, students should be guided on how to analyze it critically, i.e., observe it, describe what they observe, and draw possible inferences, verbalizing what it suggests. Ubiquitous as they are, images and their use in school bring the world of school closer to the real world and to the daily lives of students. Today, the use of still and moving images are present in the Geography lessons of student-teachers in initial training of the Master’s in Teaching History and Geography. Pedagogical-didactic documents are prepared which contain images that are adapted to the themes, the different types of content, to the students, leading them to engage in dialogue, verbal interaction, and proactive attitudes in the classroom, as well as developing a keener awareness of geographical space and the problems of our world. The Geography subject and its teaching become appealing and formative contributing to the development of a spatial view of the facts and their interaction and differentiation at the earth's surface.
