Caminhos de Quando e Além de Helena Parente Cunha : o misticismo como filosofia
Christina Ramalho
Documento (.pdf)
AbstractIn the long poem Caminhos de quando e além. Diálogo com poemas de Fernando Pessoa (2007), by the Bahian writer Helena Parente Cunha, the I-lyrical/narrator, starting from "Eros e Psiquê" and "Na sombra do Monte Abiegno" (poems by Fernando Pessoa), proposes a long journey through 48 metaphorical "stations", in which the mystical experience will be revealed as the source for the establishment of philosophical and theological assumptions that contribute to the purpose of the trip - the human search for the meaning of the spiritual life - is reached. Full of symbolic passages, the poem, here contemplated in the light of the epic discourse theory (Silva & Ramalho, 2007) approaches to myth developed by Campbell (2006), semantic aspects of Pessoa's poems, possible relationships between the Cunha’s poem and the painting the "The Girls" by Velázquez, and visions of Foucault (1981) on the same painting, proves to be a creation simultaneously metonymic and metaphorical of the human journey through life and of the epiphanic moment when the two ends, life and death, are tied from the reflection on the spiritual meaning of existence.
