#Abstract
Populations ageing is a process that has manifested in the world, while assuming different levels in certain countries. In order to understand this process in Brazil and Portugal, which divide a common history, it was observed in this paper, statistical data for both countries. Furthermore, it tried to understand the specificities of each country in relation to aging. It was possible to understand that Portugal is faced with a high rate of aging. In addiction, the Portugal's data show a large shrinkage of the base and a extend on the top of their age pyramid. In the other hand, Brazil also has a population aging, but it isn't an aging index as high as the Portugal and its age pyramid, despite have a shrinkage in the base, have too a flare in the center - on the adult population.
