#Abstract
The development of modern geographical science in Bulgaria started after the liberation from Ottoman rule in 1878. In its development outlines four periods: Renaissance; 1878 - 1944; 1944-1989; contemporary since 1989. This period traces the development of the various geographic areas. The names of leading geographers in the geographic domain are mentioned. The training of professionals in the geographic area is analyzed in this chapter. This is the role of the University of Veliko Tarnovo in the development of Bulgaria's geography.
