Rio De Janeiro/Brasil e seus efeitos no campo térmico

Documento (.pdf)
AbstractThis paper analyzes and maps the temporal and spatial evolution of the thermal field (the air temperature and the temperature of the land surface) in urban intervention spaces for the Olympics in August 2016 in the city of Rio de Janeiro under the perspective of urban climatology, through time series analysis of data from weather stations and remote sensing techniques. There were selected Barra da Tijuca and Vila Militar suburbs in the city's West Zone, which will receive more than 70% of the competitions during the games. The methodology was based on the use of data between 1951 and 2009 of the average temperature of two standard weather stations near the location of the competitions, and land surface temperature estimated data from satellite Landsat 5 and 7 images between 1984 and 2010 of the last 60 years. According to linear regression analysis and analysis of variance (ANOVA) applied to the air temperature analysis, the results show a significant increase above 1°C over 60 years more pronounced fr om the 1980s and in the fall. The analysis of the land surface temperature carried out by remote sensing displays the 2000s as the warmest that reaches all the space intended for competitions and much of the neighborhoods. The importance of thermal comfort for the Olympic areas is a necessity but it should extend to the entire city and beyond the Olympics.
