#Abstract
Sustainability is part of an endless political order in the European space, both in the regional and local level and in their various policy areas. Nevertheless, the cultural dimension is not necessarily represented in these policies, presenting reduced the practices which the cultural dimension is successfully included. Cultural sustainability in the European sustainable development agenda aims to increase the significance of culture in European policies of urban management in its tangible and intangible characteristics concentrating the understanding that culture is crucial for the implementation of sustainability policies as they draws how we manage natural resources and especially how we build relationships with others. The purpose of this study is to compare and analyse best practices that put the cultural dimension into account. Methodologically, the objective is to evaluate the relevance of the cultural dimension in the process of awarding the distinction "European Green Capital".
