#Abstract
The aim of this text is to reflect on power and being by means of a philosophical analysis and interpretation of an ancient Chinese poem, written in the VIII century by the poet Wang Wei and translated into Portuguese in the XX century in Macau. In this poem, it can be found a conception of ethical life and political power that is similar to the traditional western conception of ethics and politics. In our view, it is possible to summarize these traditional conceptions by saying that they both, eastern and western, identify power and being.
