AbstractAmong the many factors to be considered in the planning of tourism practice in historical cities, it is highlighted the management of impact on the local community’s quality life. It is latent the need that social scientists work with the tourist object redirecting their target to the social interlocutor who is most affected by the consequences of this activity: the resident. It is thinking on resident interlocutor that this paper aims to perform a comparative analysis between the discursive narratives of residents versus non-residents of a World Heritage City about the tourist use of its heritage. This paper is articulated through the Sociological Discourse Analysis as instrument for a comparative analysis between the discursive narratives of residents versus nonresidents, about the tourism activity in heritage cities. As practice of discursive material collection it was used the technique also belonging to the Spanish tradition of qualitative social research called Group Discussion, because this is a practice of open group meeting that allows the identification of different collective representations about a particular thematic. The study is organized into sections including: State of the art heritage tourism; Development of methodological elements of the study: Discussion Group and Sociological Discourse Analysis and Results. This paper is aimed to contribute in the expansion of critical studies on tourism in heritage cities, emphasizing the problems faced by residents and that may affect the sustainability of tourism in sensitive destinations.
