#Abstract
Floods are the natural phenomenon with a greater number of social and economic losses in a short period of time. Galicia, with hundreds of channels, and with a favourable climate for them to be maintained, presents this problem a large part of the rivers. Where there is water, there is a human settlement, which means that the vicinity of the rivers of this land are always populated. In the Mandeo and Mendo´s interfluve is located the historical town of Betanzos, urban core that experiences these phenomena annually. Compiling historical data, and information of the current media, it has been seen that, throughout its existence, this town has experimented, and experiences, several episodes, both by the floods of the river and by the dynamics of the tides of the Atlantic Ocean. This article presents, through the current situation of the floods in the village, this northwest of the Iberian Peninsula current problem.
