AbstractThis work analyses the models of public passenger transport management in the cities of Porto (Portugal) and Salvador (Brazil), aiming to raise subsidies of different urban realities that make feasible the efficiency and rationalization of urban mobility. Oporto is the second largest city in Portugal with a population of 238,000, where 1.2 million trips are carried out every day covering all modes of transport. Salvador is the capital of the state of Bahia, the third largest city in Brazil, with three million inhabitants and 4 million trips daily. For this study, bibliographical research, documentary analysis of strategic plans and management reports of public and private companies, theses and dissertations on the subject were carried out in both cities, and public and private company managers were interviewed. In the conclusions, it is evaluated which aspects of the management models of each of the cities that can be incorporated positively.
