Português para deficiente auditivo : uma análise historiográfica da obra de Marlene de Oliveira Gotti
Vanessa Gomes Teixeira
Documento (.pdf)
AbstractWhen we analyze the historiography of the education of deaf people, we can see that in the course of the years we have implemented several methods aimed at teaching Portuguese to this community in Brazil, such as Oralism, Total Communication and Bilingualism. These methods, in turn, had different conceptions about who the deaf individual is, what deafness is, what are sign languages and which are their roles in the learning process of the deaf and how Portuguese should be taught for this student. Taking into account these questions, this article, based on the theoretical framework of Linguistic Historiography, seeks to analyze a book about Portuguese teaching for the deaf community entitled “Português para deficiente auditivo” and elaborated in 1992 by Marlene de Oliveira Gotti. In this context, the work is organized in three parts: First, I review the literature in the areas of Linguistic Historiography and History of Portuguese Teaching for the Deaf. Then I describe how the analysis was done and what criteria were adopted. Finally, I analyze the work of Gotti (1992).
