AbstractThis article presents an experiment conducted with two groups of students, from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (A2 and B1 levels), Lisbon, Portugal and from the Paul Valéry University (A2 level), Montpellier, France. The study aims at observing to what extent collaborative writing can have some impact on students’ learning and motivation. FramaPad was the software used with the students of both countries, each group learning the other group’s language. The qualitative approach was chosen and data were collected through a questionnaire participants filled in. Data were then analysed according to content analysis techniques. Collaborative writing, together with other ICT tools appears to be an appropriate way not only to reinforce students’ involvment and motivation but also to promote learning, since students can be creative and interact with their peers in a learning/teaching student-based approach.
