AbstractThis paper takes up part of the contents of my lecture during the meeting organized by the Centre for Linguistics of the University of Porto on 7th and 8th September 2017 at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of University of Porto. The title of the paper refers to the topic of the meeting, Linguistics in Teacher Training. From theories to practices, establishing at the same time a clear difference of its approach and epistemological perspective, and therefore of strategy. In fact, I assume that the training of the teacher of languages-cultures must be assigned to its specific discipline, which is the didactics of the languages-cultures. The gravity center of this discipline, and therefore of the corresponding professional training, are neither the theories - whether cognitive, linguistic or pedagogical -, nor the practices, but the didactic models.
