AbstractThis paper reflects upon existing dialogic practice between the museum and its visitors. It aims to present an analysis that reveals instruments of mass and interpersonal communication in exhibition of religious art erudite. It also draws on the accessibility to the general public and especially to the less favored economically and culturally. Finally, it considers whether dialogic is effectively used as an element of cultural mediation, education and interaction between museum and surrounding community. For this qualitative and quantitative diagnosis was chosen as case study Abelardo Rodrigues Museum (Bahia-Brazil). Based on the research of the communication process of “The “Heavenly Court”: 25 years of art and devotion” exhibition. Scenic and interactive displays, which were designed to facilitate the understanding of the approach to different audiences, artistic and stylistic features of the sculpture and not just appreciation of the sacred aspect of the image. The collection study consists on pieces of religious art, such as popular devotions, rare invocations cross Roca pictures, paintings and oratories expressing religiosity and record the scholarly and popular work of Brazilian artisan. This collection is representative of various eras and schools dating from the seventeenth to the twentieth century, materials and typologies are also diverse, exhibited on a seventeenth century mansions. Therefore, in order the democratization and popularization of the architectural space and the collection – symbols of hegemonic classes – we sought an innovative, contemporary and playful exhibition design, aiming to interact with different stakeholders. This paper address the results of this work. The issues addressed in this study were buoyed with results of data collection through interviews and questionnaires to visitors. Among consulted theoretical stand out Jean Davallon, Heloisa Costa, Mariíia Cury, Tereza Scheiner, who discussed communication strategies in exhibitions.
