AbstractThis article is part of the thesis which is under development at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Porto and reflects on assessment practices that educational sectors of museums carry out in their performance with the public. The text is intended to discuss the interface between museums and schools in terms of reception and audience sustainability. Initially - while thinking about education as a musealized heritage, viewing it isolated from its context and cataloged within certain standards -, the text will reflect on how the relationship with the audience sometimes responds to stagnated precepts of museology, and how these projects tend to be a reproduction of museological models. It then explores the concept of the museum as a space for communication and education, with possibilities of action in their relationship with visitors in a critical and dialogical way. The presentation of other paradigms suited to the study of the relationship between museum and school will serve to show the potential that the dialogue between the two institutions can achieve. In this sense, the text identifies the distinctions in the way of understanding education in these two fields, seeking tangential points in this relationship. The subjects that promote dialogue between the two institutions, including museums educators and teachers of schools seeking the museum as a resource and development for its activities, will be addressed. The idea of the musealization of education, which appears in the text as something negative, is, in general, reconstructed as a critical work training of teachers, students and visitors.
