#Abstract
The sociocultural renovation that marked the 12th century allowed medicine to transform itself in a recognized and accepted science and, simultaneously, in a prestigious job. Portugal, whose independence was being consolidated in the same period, received its first physicians during the kingdom of Sancho I. The aim of the project is to study the first individuals that practiced medicine in medieval Portugal, looking for a transversal vision of the cultural milieu where they appeared, of the social reality where they were inserted and of the role that medicine played in their personal careers, everything during an early stage of the medical profession in Portuguese territory, where the consolidation took several generations to be complete. O meu projeto de dissertação de mestrado tem como objeto de estudo os primeiros físicos e cirurgiões atuantes no território medieval português e, em segundo plano, a atividade, médica e não só, de físicos portugueses fora do reino.
