#Abstract
This article presents the leading aspects for the execution of the Master dissertation in Architecture, and the main conclusions of its completion. The dissertation develops within the Early Middle Ages architecture present in the Portuguese territory, and its study focus in the Chapel of São Frutuoso de Montélios. Its intention is to bring forward a new reading and approach to the Chapel of São Frutuoso de Montélios, closely linked to the architect’s perception and working tools – through drawing analysis. In practice, the main focus is the principles of the chapel’s design, such as, a measure, module and proportional relations. This investigation also makes a thorough comparative study of the principals of design and the proportional relations between buildings, through the overlay and scale reduction/enlargement of drawings. The key comparisons are: the Basilica of Dumio, near Montélios, which certainly served as a design model; and the Chapel of Bom Jesus de Valverde in Évora, building inspired by a visit to Montélios.
