#Abstract
The main goal of this article is to conceptualize the importance of liberalism and its past and still present influence on public spaces, contributing greatly for the social and collective history, expressed in the form of a new toponymy that can be noticed in three distinct parishes of Porto, namely Bonfim, Campanhã and Sto Ildefonso. The themes concerning this review are numerous: the importance of the liberalism influence and its fixaxion, being itself a vehicle throughout history, helping us to understand it historically. This way its influence has been preserved in Porto’s toponymy, what main events and historical personalities linked/connected to liberalism history are evoked in the toponymy of the city, and lastly, what were the main alterations as what reasons were presented to explain those toponymy changes.
