#Abstract
This article presents a reinterpretation of the thesis carried out by one of the authors in 1985 under the title " Muzambinho Railway Company (1887-1910) in the context of South Minas railway development (1870-1910) ". With this historiographical interpretation one associates today, the possibility to recover the trace of the railroad from the cartographic composition through the project: " Municipal Chorographico Album of the State of Minas Geraes (1927): Critical Studies”, available on the web since 2012 by the Foundation 18 March. This exercise is inserted in the movement of appreciation of the railroad patrimony, established by Brazilian federal law. More than raise the remaining material heritage of this modal in the country, it is necessary to advance in understanding the historical context in which, at the end of the Empire, economic groups disputed the economic potential of the South of Minas Gerais, through the rail projects, including the Muzambinho Railroad.
