#Abstract
Tennis is an elite sport that arrived in Portugal in 1880. However, it only reached a higher development with the creation of the Portuguese Lawn-Tennis Federation in 1925. In Oporto this sport had a significant evolution due to the role of that Federation and thanks to the activity of some clubs, as the Real Velo Clube do Porto and the Lawn tennis Club da Foz, which organized some important tournaments in their courts, where Vasco Horta e Costa stood out. Through newspapers analysis, this article pretends to analyze the History of Oporto tennis (clubs, tournaments, players) between 1925 and 1934, when Portuguese tennis faced an important stagnation.
