Ditos e Motes Medievais e Modernos : a crítica social e o quotidiano da corte quinhentista
Pedro Miguel Mota Costa
File (.pdf)
AbstractApparently lost in time, the ditos and motes were textual productions that, in the era of Alexandre Herculano, were indispensable accessories for an historical research. As we know, the historiography took some new paths, and the anecdotes, so rich and full of information, were sources that helped us to understand the modus vivendi of a society, and because of the time changes, they started falling into oblivion. With this investigation, we continued the studies of José Hermanwo Saraiva and Christopher Lund, investigating more than 2000 original files that were almost never used by History. We’ve been working in royal court issues, like the daily routine of them and the social critique intrinsic to the anecdotes, and, with a rigorous analysis of the monographies that always guided our investigation, we have discovered that these sources are so much more than we think.
