#Abstract
Beginning in 1914 and ended in 1918, “The Great War” – then the contemporary designation for the conflict – was the first world conflagration. Portugal entered officially in the warfare in 1916, next to the Entente or the Allies’ side. This decision and consequent participation was carefully followed by the Portuguese press. Within this essay it is intended to analyze the Portuguese participation on the European Western Front, in its most relevant aspects, following the articles of the newspaper O Comércio do Porto.
