	A Associação de Socorros Mútuos Restauradora de Avintes : da fundação às primeiras fusões (1893-1942)

	Abstract The current investigation aims to study “Associação de Socorros Mútuos Restauradora de Avintes” from its foundation, in 1893, until 1942, year of its integration with similar associations. The analyses of primary sources of information which belong to “Arquivo Distrital do Porto”, the archive of the association itself and hemerographic sources of that time, as well as secondary sources of information, allowed to find out the reasons behind its foundation, their objectives, the target audience and the associates that existed throughout the first biennium, allocated by their genre, place and year; the association’s financial evolution was evaluated in certain time periods of the monarchy and the 1st republic, including the epidemics of the Spanish flu and the typhus; charts were created on the admission of partners and the benefits that were granted in certain periods of time, their typology and their value according to the constitutions of 1900 and 1916; at last, several associations were found to be integrated in “Restauradora”.
