#Abstract
This article’s main purpose is to investigate how the first Commission of Residents of O’Porto’s city was born in 1974. The purpose is to understand what was the social context of the neighbourhood of S. João de Deus, how was the movement formed, what were the antecedents and their main motivations, and, how did the movement spread throughout the all city, which lead to several Commissions. On the other hand, the reasons that lead to this situation, the residents objectives with this fight and their achievements are also studied in this article.
