Fuentes, estructura, ámbitos y líneas de interpretación en el estudio de las relaciones entre la Iglesia y la realeza castellana (1366-1390)
Chelle Ortega, José Antonio
File (.pdf)
AbstractIn 1366 commenced a civil war originated by the conflict between Peter I of Castile and his stepbrother Henry of Trastámara, not coming to an end until 1369. To a large extent, the victory of Henry was due to the intervention on the conflict of an important sector of the Castilian Church either financing Henry's campaigns or fighting for his legitimacy on the battlefield. Once Peter was defeated and assassinated by his stepbrother in Campo de Montiel, Henry became the king of Castile. He sought during his reign the legitimacy of his new role leaning on the Castilian Church through mechanisms based on a reciprocal relationship. Henry's son, John I, carried on the same strategy as his father. He continued working for the consolidation of the new dinasty, the House of Trastámara.
