#Abstract
The cod fishing played an important role for Portugal and had a great weight in the feeding of this people. Therefore, it is not surprising that at the beginning of the twentieth century began to organize this activity. This essay aims to approach and make known the life of fishermen codfish. Due to time constraints, the 1960s were only chosen because it marks the beginning of the Colonial War, and cod fishing was one of the loopholes.
