#Abstract
Every day the academic world awakens with new researches in the field of Women's History. In this project a qualitative study of the situation of the widows in the town of Gandía during the first half of the fifteenth century has been carried out. Through an analysis of the local notarial documentation, we will draw conclusions about their capacities, rights and realities that formed that urban context, and will compare them with other works on the same subject, but in different contexts, approaching them as social and economic agents within the family and social structure, and emphasizing the rereading of the social imaginary that has formed around them and that as it has been concluded, has nothing to do with the daily reality of these women.
