#Abstract
In this paper we present the first results of our PhD research, focused on the study of written texts in Gothic and Renaissance Valencian paintings (1238-1579). These inscriptions are analysed from the Palaeographic and History of Written Culture perspectives, trying to answer some questions such as who commissioned them, for what and to whom.
