La influencia del saber científico en la lírica italiana de los orígenes al Trecento
Paula Pérez Milán
File (.pdf)
AbstractThe presence of scientific knowledge in Italian lyric poetry from the Middle Ages has traditionally been studied in a rather partial and isolated manner. Our project responds to the need of an ordered and systematic framework which enables us to cast an overview of the influence of scientific knowledge in Italian lyric poetry from the Middle Ages upon the basis of the analysis of naturalistic images referred to animals, plants, precious stones, and alchemical and medical procedures. These five categories correspond to five disciplines whose development in the Middle Ages is codified in different theoretical treatises: bestiaries, lapidaries, herbaria, alchemical compendia and medical treatises. We will examine these in search of textual correspondences which might allow us to identify the origin of the images and establish how they are resemantised in the context of the lyrical discourse.
