Guidelines for submission and publication

 

1. The authors should indicate

     a) to which section their text must be submitted:

          i) Thematic studies

          ii) Other studies

          iii) Book reviews

     b) Submitted to http://ojs.letras.up.pt/index.php/historia/about/submissions#onlineSubmissions

     c) Indicate the complete title of the text in Portuguese, French, English and Spanish

 

2. Articles should:

     2.1. Have a maximum size of 50.000 characters including spaces, footnotes, references, tables, charts, figures and photographs.

     2.2. Be accompanied by four abstracts 600 characters in Portuguese, French, Spanish and English and 4 keywords in  each of these languages.

     2.3. Be submitted in A4 pages with normal marginsline spacing of 1.5, in Times New Roman and font size 12in Word for Windows format or compatible.            

Margins must obey to the following measurements

                    §  upper and lower - 2,5 cm

                    §  left and right - 3 cm

 

      2.4. Indicate the precisely place of tables, graphics, figures and photos insertion in the texte.

      2.5. Indicate the sequential number of tables, graphics, figures and photos.

      2.6. Indicate the titles and sources of information used in tables, graphics, figures and photos with short descriptive titles and source references.

      2.7. The iconographic information must indicate the sources and references related with non-original elements. If there are intellectual property rights, the authors must request such authorization. História  is not responsible for the infringement of intellectual property rights.

      2.8. The footnotes should be only in numbers. The numbering of the notes must be continuous from beginning to end of the text. Footnotes should be written with font size 10 and line spacing of 1.15. The same line spacing should be used in tables, which must be written with font size 11.

     

3. Book reviews must be preceded by full bibliographical reference and must not exceed 8,000 characters, including spaces.

 

4. Bibliographical and documental references

     4.1. Bibliographical references and citations will be included in the body of the text, according to the following presentation

                     Amorim (2008); Ribeiro (2016: 344); Pereira et al. (2010).

     4.2. The citations in Portuguese must be in quotation marks. Words in other languages must be formatted in italics

     4.3. Only references mentioned throughout the text should be included in the final bibliography

     4.4. The bibliographical references must obey to the following presentation:

            a) Book with an author

                MACEDO, Jorge Borges de (1982), A situação económica no tempo de Pombal. Alguns aspectos, Lisboa Moraes Editores.

            b) With more than an author

            c) with more than four authors

            e) Articles in periodicals

             k) Archives and Libraries sources and funds citation:

                The documentary quotations should include all the necessary elements for a rigorous identification of the species, using abbreviations or acronyms after the first complete reference

                The indication of the documentary funds should be in italics.

                Ex. Arquivo Nacional Torre do Tombo (ANTT), Chancelaria D. Afonso V, lv. 15, fl. 89.

 

     4.5. References should be placed at the end of the text and must be ordered alphabetically by author's surname. If there is more than one reference to the same author, they should be sorted from oldest to newest.

 

5. Authors must comply with the Portuguese Language Spelling Agreement, effective as of January 1, 2009. In the citation of texts produced before that agreement, the original spelling must be respected
