The Technological Singularity, defined by Vernor Vinge as an inevitable, if unpredictable Event that will herald trans-human and post-human futures, has been constructed either as a techno-utopia, that will liberate humans from the constraints of their embodied limitations through transcendent technological progress or as a dreaded dystopia that will further diminish human autonomy and agency.
The 2014 issue of Spaces of Utopia invites a reflection on the realities and projections of the interface between human and machine that, according to Istvan Csicsery-Ronay Jr. “constitute the quintessential myth of contemporary technoculture.”
The original contributions (5000 to 6000 words) to be submitted to the Editorial Board of the journal for double peer-reviewing should be sent to the following addresses, no later than November 15th, 2014.
