Sociologia] Scope of the Journal

Sociologia: Revista da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto, of the responsibility of the Department of Sociology, was first published in 1991, following the creation of the Degree in Sociology, in 1985, and the Institute of Sociology, three years later.

As a scientific journal, it aims at promoting the dissemination of sociological works that strive for quality and relevance, in theoretical and empirical terms. It also includes the contributions from other disciplines of social sciences and pursues an editorial line grounded on theoretical and methodological diversity, in a clash of perspectives, in order to contribute to the imporvement and sedimentation of sociological knowledge, in particular.

The journal accepts different kinds of works – articles, reviews, research notes and bibliographical essays – in several languages such as Portuguese, French, English and Spanish, which aims at achieving a wide field of diffusion and internationalization. The papers are evaluated by experts under double-blind review.

The jornal is published biannually and as a thematic issue each year.

We follow the guidelines about publication ethics of Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and The Portuguese Sociological Association (APS).
